The Security Council members convened today, 5 August 2026, to discuss the humanitarian situation in Sudan.
The members of the Security Council expressed concern at the humanitarian situation in the country. They called for the protection of civilians and urged all parties to comply with their obligations under international humanitarian law.
They underlined the importance of continued and sustained humanitarian support and the facilitation of humanitarian access to all populations in need, in line with the humanitarian principles of independence, impartiality, neutrality and humanity.
The members of the Security Council reaffirmed their commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Sudan.
